OMG DC

So I just finished my first week of work/hanging out in DC! It was pretty much amazing!

Sunday: Got up super early after spending the night in ABQ & caught a nice flight to Atlanta and then on to DC. Victoria was AMAZING and picked me up from National so that I wouldn't have to take the metro with all my stuff. I met my roomies, Jessica and Jillian. They both seem to be pretty much amazing. We watched a really cute movie, Just Friends, for our first hanging out time.

Monday: Memorial Day... which means no work! We slept in until about 10ish and then we decided that we really needed to go grocery shopping. We walked down the street to the Watergate building (haha) and got TOO MANY GROCERIES. Which basically meant that we had to walk back with about 6 (plastic) bags each... and of course 2 of them had to break on us... luckily I had taken my reuseable ones (a whole 2 of them...) which meant that we weren't totally ridiculous (only mostly). Jill and I went and wandered around the Mall for a nice, long walk (probably about 2 1/2 hours of sight-seeing, picture taking, and just being a really obnoxious tourist!)

Tuesday (& Wednesday): Jessica's 21st BIRTHDAY (Tues.)! We had to start work at 9am, but all we did for two days was orientation stuff (learn where everything is, learn how to answer the phone, meet everyone in the office, etc) Nothing too exciting happened... except when I went to meet with my supervisor, he was busy... so I came back later and we started talking... but he got an important phone call... so we set a meeting for Thursday morning... :) We also got to go on our first Capitol Building tour... because guess what??? We get to GIVE THEM. Yes. Come visit DC and get a tour with the awesome and amazing INTERNS. Because we rock. :)

Thursday: I got to meet with my supervisor so that I would FINALLY have something to do... Whoo Hoo. I get to do lots of research (what was I expecting...?) on the corrolation between drop out rates and crime... which is actually surprisingly interesting! I have found lots of exciting things to read about (which is good). Thursday was also our first day of REAL work... so we didn't have much more orientation stuff to do... Although we did have to go on a scavenger hunt just so that we could figure our way around the hill... mostly underground (which is totally awesome). OH. And the blisters on the back of my feet pretty much are killing me. Still. Even though I have yet to mention them... haha.

Friday: We only had half of a day of work today (we got off at 1:30!). So we went to this amazing Italian place that Victoria took me to on Sunday called Bertucci's, which pretty much has the most amazing bread rolls you will ever have. It's on the corner of Connecticut Ave & M St if you ever are in DC. Because you WILL want to go. :) Jill and I also decided to go wander around Georgetown because the shopping there is amazing. If you have ever been to State St. in Santa Barbara, Georgetown (M St.) is pretty much the same, only cuter... and feels more like a small town on the east coast... but it's still totally awesome. :)

DC has been treating me pretty well... my feet hurt A LOT. Which is probably my only complaint... which is probably a good thing... Work was kinda boring today because my computer wasn't working, so the tech support guy was working on it for most of the morning... I think he gave up around lunch time... which was unfortunate... but that's OK... who needs the inter-office program anyways??? I can just look over somebody else's shoulder and it will be fine (seriously... I don't really care).

I think this weekend is pretty much gonna rock my socks. We are probably going to one of the Smithsonian museums tomorrow since it is supposed to rain (eww...) and then I think we are going to the Zoo and Aquarium on Sunday... and we are going to watch them feed the PIR-A-NAHS at the Zoo! :) I'm super duper excited for that.. it's pretty much going to be AMAZING!
